Management of disasters has been an old phenomenon. It is a cross national task that transcends every spectrum of human life. In Ghana, disasters from fire,  flood, and gas retailing have been recorded. Various emergency plans both formal and informal have been created with the objective of minimizing vulnerability to hazards. 

In the context of business operation, stakeholders would want to be sure that the effect of disaster, should it occur, be brought to the barest minimum in order that properties and, most importantly, the human capital of the business will be safe.

However, to what extent can stakeholders in the business environment adequately prepare, respond and recover in these emergencies? How has Ghana fared in this regard? What is the current situation? What policies come into play? What is the role of policy makers to effectively manage disaster?
